The Dotty Rhino blog has been nominated for the BEST AFRICAN OR MIDDLE EASTERN WEBLOG in the 2007 Bloggies!

Our blog has only been up and running for three months so this is fantastic news and we’re guessing some of you who are visiting the blog for the first time might have found us this way…

So here is some background info about Dotty Rhino:

Mkomazi is a real game reserve in Northern Tanzania which provides sanctuary for Black Rhinos and African wild dogs as well as employing a local workforce and building schools/improving water supplies for the neighbouring villages.

Our Dotty Rhino website has been created for an imaginative and considerate audience, and aims to be both educational and fun. The entire site is a guaranteed safe place for kids (and parents!)

Every week in the blog you can read about the Mkomazi residents as they go about their daily lives.

Each ‘dotty rhino’ character represents a real-life animal that lives and breathes in the Mkomazi Game Reserve. Dotty is actually a one and a half year old baby black rhino born in the rhino sanctuary whose parents previously spent many years in captivity.
